Witchcraft in Suffolk?

Although I have not found any major scandals involving anyone born either Collender or Cullender, at least two male Cullenders have been associated with women who were to end their lives on the gallows. The first was Rose Hicks, who married William Cullender on 18th April 1625, producing 9 children by 1637. William is believed to have died in 1642, but left Rose reasonably well off, owning a house and contributing to the local poor relief. Despite being untypical of the type of women who were most likely to be characterised as witches, within twenty years Rose was on trial for her life. The 'evidence' of neighbours that she had caused a cart to overturn, and horses to die was supplemented by the discovery of a third nipple (probably a mole). She was hanged on 17th March 1662 in Bury St Edmunds.
